Chartered April 8, 1912 in Sacramento, Monitor Lodge #218-Sacramento is a local lodge of the Vasa Order of America, a Fraternal Society originally established for the benefit of Swedish immigrants more than a century ago, but now dedicated to preserving and sharing our Swedish and Nordic culture and heritage.

At our meetings, you will find an opportunity to socialize with fellow members of Nordic roots sharing common history and interests.  Please check out our Calendar to find out more about our upcoming events and explore the rest of the website to learn more about the various things our Lodge has to offer.

Membership is open to men and women over 14 years of age of Nordic roots, (Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish or Icelandic,) who would like to rediscover the traditions of their forefathers as well as those who are not of Nordic ancestry but are interested in Swedish and Nordic heritage and cultureClick here to learn more about joining our Lodge

We invite you to attend our monthly meetings and special events.  Youth and children under the age of fourteen are always welcome to participate in Monitor Lodge activities and there are often activities specifically tailored for them.

What events are coming up in the next few weeks?

Our meeting on Friday, January 3rd will be a potluck as we install our officers for 2020 and initiate some new members.

Friday, February 7th Friday will have us enjoying Pea Soup and Pancakes and a cultural presentation about genealogy

What's new?   

 

We have revived our lodge lending library where you will find books in Swedish, books in English by Swedish authors and a few books about Sweden.  Contributions to the library are always welcome.  We alo have some Swedish music CDs available for borrowing.

    5:30 pm - Social hour

    6:00 pm - Business meeting – includes electing  2020 convention delegates    6:30 pm - Dinner @ $10 per person Children 12 and under free

    7:30 pm - Cultural presentation starts with Dick Baldwin  “Genealogy – researching your Scandinavian roots”

    Legos will be available for the kids and the young at heart
